Dr. McLaughlin has a special interest in helping adults through difficult transitions in their lives, from the adjustments young adults commonly experience (i.e. transition from college to the workplace), to those adults experience in relationships, parenting and other life events. Additionally, Dr. McLaughlin enjoys working with parents individually to help them insure their own needs are met, as well as in the context of parenting sessions designed to improve skill and confidence related to effective parenting.
Dr. McLaughlin provides treatment with a Cognitive-Behavioral approach and incorporates Mindfulness and Acceptance-Based techniques. She collaborates with other professionals that may be involved in a client's care (i.e. psychiatrists, family therapists and marital therapists), and can assist in locating appropriate referrals for additional services, when needed, to optimize care (i.e. referrals for psychopharmacological treatment).
